Introduction to mobile device management

Emil Kvarnhammar will teach you how to manage and administer the smartphones and tablets in your organization.

While the number of smartphones and tablets in an organization is growing, so is the need of controlling the security and administering them remotely. It is no longer possible for larger organizations to manually configure Email settings on each device, and some organizations are already building in-house applications that needs to be distributed to all mobile users. It is important that a device can be erased remotely, since it might get lost or stolen. Security needs to be handled and managed on multiple layers. A mobile security policy is more effective if it is enforced by tools and processes, rather than sent out to users as a document. Since many attendees work with multiple platforms, we are covering the larger mobile operating systems such as Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

Depending on how large your organization is, MDM can be solved through simple scripts (some times even manually) – but also with more advanced management tools.

The following topics are covered:

·       Registering and activating new devices

·       Initial configuration, policy management (local wipe, passcode policy etc.), access control

·       Distributing settings for Exchange or similar mail/calendar system

·       Configuring access to WiFi networks, VPN, certificates etc.

·       Provisioning of applications

·       Routines on how to manage purchasing of devices, lost devices etc.
