By choosing Secure Coding Patterns, defensive programming, and best practices, it is often possible to both avoid classes of vulnerabilities and force security decisions in code. Patterns that enforce validation can, for example, help reduce the attack surface of a broad range of vulnerability classes such as injections.

This helps reduce the risk of being affected both by mistakes in development and, for example, vulnerabilities in third-party dependencies. Additionally, a secure coding standard increases the ability to introduce effective static code analysis (SAST) and can simplify debugging by reducing the number of potential pathways in code.

In this training we either present general recommendations on patterns or adapt the recommendations to the frameworks and languages in use.
