CVE, NVD, EUVD - what a mess! Let's work together to move forward!

17:30-18:00 Registration and refreshments

18:00 Tech Talk, mingle and networking

Topic: CVE, NVD, EUVD – what a mess! Let’s work together to move forward!

While the EU enacts laws such as NIS2 and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) based on open vulnerability management, serious things are happening to the systems we have relied on and used for over 25 years. The NVD database has effectively been discontinued and replaced by CISA. CVE has had clear funding problems. At the same time, the EU is launching the somewhat unclear EUVD database. The uncertainty has enabled many commercial players to step in and offer private services.

A year ago, the Global Vulnerability Intelligence Platform project was created with OWASP, OpenSSF, ECLIPSE/ORCWG, OpenForumEurope, Erlang Ecosystem Foundation, and with the support of the Sovereign Tech Resilience fund, work is now underway to create a new global organization for oversight and standardization, not to create a new database.

The project manager is Olle E. Johansson, who will be here to tell us more about how this was created, how it is connected to CRA, and what the plan is going forward.
